The flowers are blooming and spring is in full swing here in Franceland. It's my fav time of the year in France, so I thought I'd dedicate this post to the Frenchies and my favorite French words....
Funny, odd or not what'd you think words:
Tampon: tampon...or stamp. Yes, please just picture for a minute how awkward it is for an anglophone to walk into a French craft store and ask if they have any rubber stamps...
Bras: arm :)
Arme: gun or weapon
Car: a bus
Bus: a bus...confusing right?
Doudou: pronounced 'doo doo' it actually means stuffed animal...
Ananas: no, not french for bananas...actually pineapple :)
Pamplemousse: could they have come up with a funnier sounding
word to say grapefruit?
Blesser: not bless, hurt....
Chair: flesh!
College: middle school...
Crayon: a pencil
Dot: dowry
Hyper: big, very
Poisson: nope, not poison--fish!

Hilarious words stolen and then modified from English:
a "brushing": getting your hair styled
a "shampooing": no, not pronounced shampoo-ing but
'shampwhoh' with a Frenchy accent
a "relooking": any guesses? this one took me months to
figure out it means a makeover!
a "parking": a parking lot...hmm, did someone get lazy and
leave off the end?
"pom pom girl":a cheerleader
